The Department of Physician Assistant Studies, School of Health Professions at New York Institute of Technology invites applicants to apply for a full-time, tenure track (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) nine-month faculty position. This program is currently delivered on the Long Island campus. The faculty will report to the Chairperson of the Department of Physician Assistant Studies and will have responsibilities in teaching, scholarship, and service. Teaching responsibilities include topics in clinical medicine and clinical skills, advising students, mentoring student research projects, and overseeing students while on clinical rotations. Service includes participation in department admissions and curriculum procedures, assisting the Program Director with accreditation efforts, and other assignments which contribute to program growth that supports diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Responsibilities

Provide student instruction in assigned courses and areas of need/expertise.

Evaluate student performance in assigned courses and identify student learning deficiencies.

Provide remedial instruction in assigned courses and areas of expertise.

Coordinate/direct instruction in assigned courses, including preparation of course syllabus, course lectures, exam administration, reporting of student performance, and course analysis.

Serve as assigned advisor for PA students to perform academic counseling of students.

Participate in program committees, including curriculum, student progression, and admissions.

Participate in program evaluation, development, and accreditation maintenance.

Participate in university, professional, scholarly, and community service activities.

Engage in other activities as determined by the Department Chair.

Qualifications
    Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies from an ARC-PA accredited program.
  • Current certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • NYS license to practice as a Physician Assistant
  • Minimum of three years of clinical experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Record of teaching
  • Doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent)

The School of Health Professions, Department of Physician Assistant Studies, offers an MS degree accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant. The department provides professional growth through interdisciplinary collaborative scholarly activities within the institution and in the healthcare community. If invited for an interview, candidates will need to conduct a professional presentation on a topic of their choice. Salary and academic rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
