Summary:

As the Head of Automation Innovation, you will lead a team that explore different innovational proof of concepts which aim to improve the way of running our business, create better product for our customers, and work with academia and tech industry to find solutions for unique supply chain problems.

Working closely with multiple products but mainly with Maersk Contract Logistics (MCL) leadership you will be the driving force testing and deploying our innovation strategy and tactical roadmap aiming to reach our modernization ambition.

Specific Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop, direct and maintain a structure to manage all proof-of-concept (PoC) projects. This includes sourcing, screening, and approval process of new innovation ideas to ensure quality pipeline and evaluation process for new PoC and rigid project management of the approved proof of concepts to deliver result in time and budget.
  • Directly accountable for the establishing and managing the innovation automation budget and spent portfolio.
  • Formulate and implement the long-term strategy with respect to new and emerging technologies that advance the overall Maersk objectives.
  • Lead the innovation automation team to promote a high-performance, results-driven environment with a strong change mindset.
  • Formulate and implement the long-term strategy with respect to new and emerging technologies that advance company objectives.
  • Attract, develop, and retain top talent for the innovation automation function, while motivating staff to continually improve its performance.
  • Manage academia relationships and other external research collaborations.
  • Develop and manage partnership with startups and technology providers.
  • Oversee the transition process of successful PoC to deployment stage of new technologies.

Job Skills and Requirements:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Experience in setting and scaling the automation, research and development function, with the proven ability to attract, inspire, motivate, and retain top tier talent.
  • Lead a high performing team and direct end to end innovation automation process to deliver on-time and to budget new solutions with exceptional quality which exceed the expectation of the customer and stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership and project management to prioritize workload and drive ownership.
  • Proven ability to establish, articulate and implement strategy that clearly aligns with corporate goals.
  • Knows when to cut short unsuccessful PoC to free resources and move on to the next thing.
  • Open mind to an environment of success and failures and find a way to learn from those mistakes to improve success ratio in the future.
  • Open to an environment that can be unstructured at times.
  • Have an innovative and disruptive mindset, constantly looking forward.
  • Technology apt and oriented.
  • Proven influencing and collaboration skills

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from a college or university
  • 5-8 years of professional experience in automation, research and development, strategy, product management, consulting

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel frequency is variable and project dependent, at times can reach 25% of the time.

Pay Range:

$190,000-$205,000

*The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for the position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.
