Responsibilities

As a core teaching faculty member, this position will be responsible for educating future leaders in addiction and mental health counseling to improve treatment and recovery from substance use and mental health disorders This position is fully remote with responsibilities in our CACREP-accredited the online program, with occasional trips to our Center City campus. This position innovates and continuously improves key education processes based on educational research, internal assessment data, and academic expertise, so that course offerings, teaching strategies and curriculum development demonstrate achievement of all learning outcomes.

    Teach and revise course content to ensure optimum learning outcomes.
  • Provide supervision necessary to promote acquisition of incremental student competency through clinical laboratory and internship experiences.
  • Provide academic advising and coaching in order to promote successful scholastic adjustment and school performance.
  • Continually seek and demonstrate knowledge in higher learning and in addiction/mental health treatment and recovery in order to facilitate the development of expertise in students and other professionals.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision or Counseling, or closely related field consistent with CACREP requirements for core faculty.
  • Minimum of one year experience substance use counseling/treatment or prevention, or closely related field.
  • Teaching, lecturing, and/or training experience in higher education, with online teaching experience preferred.
  • Competency in PC applications Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current professional license, i.e., addiction counseling, mental health counseling
  • Knowledge of current educational technology tools
  • Experience designing and teaching online graduate courses
  • Demonstrable counselor identity and involvement in counseling professional associations, such as the American Counseling Association, the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, and NAADAC.
