Summary:

The Child Mind Institute ("CMI") seeks a Compliance Associate to join our legal team. CMI is an independent New York not-for-profit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of children and families struggling with mental health and learning disorders. CMI is growing. We are establishing initiatives to serve children and families internationally and engaging in innovative public-private partnerships to provide our proven, evidence-based programs to many more children and families.

This individual will support the legal team to ensure CMI's operational policies, procedures, and contractual work comply with grant requirements, as well as applicable regulatory and ethical standards. The ideal candidate has excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to grow professionally. The legal team is a growing department, and the Compliance Associate is a newly created position with potential for growth and advancement for the right candidate. This position is partially funded pursuant to grants from the State of California and from a private charitable foundation to establish a global center for child and adolescent mental health, and this individual will contribute to the CMI mission and these projects by supporting contract processes and related compliance efforts.

Reporting to the General Counsel, this is an exempt, full-time, in-office position located in our NYC headquarters office with a potential for hybrid work.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the internal and external vendor/consultant contract process and workflow, including reviewing contract requests and drafts, implementing changes or revisions as directed by CMI counsel, and coordinating with internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate review and approval.
  • Support the General Counsel as needed on corporate governance matters and related compliance requirements.
  • Assist with management of business records and electronically stored information, including implementing record retention requirements and preparation of responses to record requests.
  • Support compliance efforts and processes across the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 2 years of experience either in a regulatory compliance, contract compliance, or paralegal role, preferably in the legal or compliance department of a grant-receiving organization; prior law firm experience will also be considered.
  • Knowledge of records retention, privacy and data protection protocols
  • Excellent research, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Ability to exercise judgment and maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Strong follow-through on delegated tasks and assignments
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365

The salary range for the position is posted. Factors such as candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations affect the salary offered within this range.
