Job Summary

Benjamin Moore & Co. is seeking a candidate to fill an integral position in our Engineering Department. We are open to speaking with candidates who have the educational degree to be able to learn and grow into this role or can come in and hit the ground running.

As an Automation & Controls Engineer, you will utilize your technical and communication skills to design, install and troubleshoot operations systems and equipment, develop and install new production processes, and participate in overall improvement activities leading to better efficiencies, lower costs, better quality, improved safety, and improved response to customer needs based on input obtained from cross-functional sources.

To perform these activities, the Automation & Controls Engineer will need to collaborate with other Engineering disciplines, production, maintenance, and contract personnel to create and oversee the design and build of controls systems; create process equipment controls specifications for new and modified systems; validate, install, and commission new systems.

Responsibilities

    Utilize analytical skills and knowledge to troubleshoot, identify and eliminate control system issues.
  • Design, develop and maintain new or existing control systems as part of continuous improvement or capital projects.
  • Design, develop and maintain process system databases (SQL) that support the manufacturing control and monitoring systems.
  • Support project startup assistance and training for control systems
  • Support or manage small to medium size Automation & Controls capital projects
  • Collaborates with Information Technology (IT) resources for the integration and resolution of server, PC, database, HMI, and Ethernet networks, and other hardware or software related issues.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for new and existing control systems, to include, but not limited to, electrical schematics, SOP's, training manuals, Functional Requirements Documents, Functional Specification Documents, and P&ID's.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering Technology, or equivalent degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • 5 years' experience as Automation & Controls Engineer is a plus; Proficient in MS Office products
  • Working experience in a manufacturing or Process Safety Management (PSM) environment is preferred
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement (CI) tools & techniques is a plus
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Results oriented and innovative
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and with deadlines
  • Ability to visualize a process or system from concept to development
  • Effective at handling multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong planning, organizational and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers and vendors
