Job/Internship Description

Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI) is seeking an intern to provide data and programming support to NASA at Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) for the summer of 2024. As an intern with the group, you will compare physical measurements from satellites with state-of-the-art models of reflected solar radiation from the Earth in specific ways which have been proven to help improve our understanding of the satellite instruments and increase the accuracy of the geophysical observations of Earth's trace gases and ocean properties. This will be achieved using basic python scripting that evaluates the output from the satellites and computer models.

You will learn and be exposed to:

  • Satellite measurements of Earth's backscattered radiation in UV and Visible spectral regions
  • Python data analysis and Unix shell scripting
  • NASA supercomputing platforms
  • Visualization and presentation of your results

Required Qualifications:

  • High school/Undergraduate student with a background in Computer science/physical or biological sciences
  • background and interest in programming with some python experience,
  • a good grasp of fundamental concepts in math.
