D.F. King & Co., Inc., a leading full-service proxy solicitation and corporate/financial communications firm, specializing in proxy contests, corporate governance consulting and tender/exchange offers for corporate control, is seeking an Associate to join its fast-paced corporate proxy solicitation team in its Wall Street Office in downtown Manhattan. This position will liaise directly with senior management on high profile proxy events. The Associate position will assist in compiling data from department sources and proprietary tools to perform vote identification, debt identification and institutional research functions to further the strategy recommendations to S&P 500 clients.

A successful candidate will have a bachelors' degree and possess excellent written and oral communication skills, strong computer literacy, and be driven to work in a team environment.

The candidate will play a crucial role in analyzing and identifying voting patterns and preferences for our clients; will work closely with a team of professionals to ensure accurate and timely identification of shareholder votes on various financial matters.

Core Duties/Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Identify votes from the institutional investor base at client annual meetings and special meetings
  • Identify participating institutions in corporate actions events
  • Creating ownership profiles and institutional listings on bond identification assignments
  • Run institutional position lists, prepare institutional contact lists, contact proxy and reorganization departments and perform institutional research required for the department's assignments
  • Collaborate with the team to develop strategies for improving vote identification accuracy

Skills, Capabilities and Attributes

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following experience, skills and behaviors:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, or a similar related field
  • 1-2 years' experience in the Proxy business and/or corporate governance
  • Familiar with internet research techniques and proficient in Microsoft Suite - Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a cooperative, team environment
  • Knowledge of shareholder voting processes and corporate governance.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Experience using Bloomberg, Refinitiv or Factset a plus

***Presence in the office in lower Manhattan a minimum of four business days a week required during training

Compensation

  • $75,000-83,000 per year
